Following the successful completion of the surgery 6 years earlier, the partners of Westbury-on-Trym Surgery approached Kitto about fitting out the 2nd floor (loft space) of their surgery. Kitto Construction provided a turnkey solution which included obtaining planning consent for the project, developing the design and delivering the construction project for an agreed price and programme.
Kitto were informed from the beginning that they had to deliver on time, otherwise funding from the NHS would not be received. The works comprised the installation of a new staircase to connect the first floor with the existing loft space, the provision of a new toilet facility and office and storage space. Kitto developed an approach to allow the works to be undertaken whilst the surgery remained operational and without any undue inconvenience to the occupiers.
Although, the building was located within a conservation area, the planners supported the proposed project and provided their consent without any alterations to the design proposals. Works started prior to Christmas and were completed 10 weeks later, in line with the original programme to allow the practice to obtain funding from the NHS and within the costs agreed.
O’Leary Goss as Architects and TM Ventham as Structural Engineers supported Kitto with the project.
