Kitto Construction Ltd was invited to assist a Client with the refurbishment of their enclosed swimming pool at their property in Sneyd Park, Bristol. Kitto prepared an initial design brief and budget and following the Client’s approval, issued a planning application for the project in conjunction with their Architect, O’Leary Goss and their Services Engineer, MEP Engineering Services. The scheme was very complicated as the existing steelwork structure needed to be raised and a new double glazed domed glazing system designed and installed. The works to the pool room also included the provision of a new ventilation and air conditioning system with underfloor heating to provide an optimum humidity within the enclosed swimming pool which was designed to be operational all year round.
The scheme involved removing the existing floor finish to the surround and kidney shaped pool and replacing it with a bespoke Spanish tiling system. The existing walls, soffits and steelwork were clad in moisture resistant plasterboard, skim and paint system to resist the high moisture environment. The structure and the external glazing overlooking the landscaped garden was upgraded and insulated to current Building Regulation requirements. As part of the works an existing changing room was refurbished and a new enclosure was constructed to house the new air handling unit to control the environment and heat the pool.
The project was completed in December 2017 to an exceptionally high standard. Whilst Kitto do not usually undertake private residential work this was a unique and very challenging project and is testimony to Kitto’s capabilities.
