Kitto were invited to assist Northlands Medical Practice with the delivery of their two consulting room and one locality services single-storey extension. Kitto prepared an initial design and construction budget to implement the scheme and then upon the practice’s approval, issued a planning application for the project with the assistance of their Architect, NOMA and their Structural Engineer, TM Ventham. Planning consent was achieved with no conditions and due to NHS guidelines, the practice were obliged to obtain three quotes of which one was from Kitto Construction Ltd via a formal tender process. Following a review of the tenders by the practice’s Quantity Surveyor, P&P Project Management, the Kitto quote was accepted, as although it was not the lowest, it was the most comprehensive proposal.
The new building includes the provision of two consulting rooms, one locality services room and a corridor linking the new rooms to the existing surgery. Each of the consulting rooms included the provision of a sink and IPS unit, a bespoke consulting room desk and drawers and base unit. The scheme also provided four car park spaces to the side of the extension.
Works started on site in August 2017 with the works finished in December 2017 to a very high standard, significantly under budget and six weeks earlier than the agreed finish date. Both the practice and the CCG were delighted with Kitto’s performance and the completed extension.
