Project Outline

Construction of new Parish Hall

Description

Kitto Construction was chosen to construct a new single-storey double height Parish Hall in Redland Green by Redland Church as a result of their enviable track record and reputation. The building’s floor area is approximately 520m2 and is constructed from a Glulam frame with a Rockpanel and Brickwork façade and a single ply membrane roof. There was a Client requirement for the building to become energy efficient and sustainable design features were incorporated such as enhanced insulation to the walls, roof and floor above the specified building regulations requirements, highly efficient mechanical and electrical plant and PV panels to the roof.

As part of the works, Kitto Construction has also incorporated a number of the Client’s specialist sub-contractors within the project delivery programme including the Church’s preferred Catering, Bespoke sliding partitions and AV installation specialists.

The bespoke partition had acoustic properties, which allowed the Hall to be sub-divided into 1, 2 or 3 spaces without any risk of the different halls overhearing or disrupting each other maximising the future use of the Hall and revenue for the Church.

Kitto Construction were involved once planning consent was received for the scheme and worked with the Client’s designers to develop an economic design with particular involvement with the frame, PV and building services design solution and product selection.

Given the thermal and acoustic performance required for the Hall, high standards of construction were required with low levels of tolerances which Kitto Construction achieved through working closely with the Client’s Architect, O’Leary Goss to develop design drawings, the selection of highly skilled sub-contractors and their on-site management.

The scheme has been procured in a traditional manner, with the consultants being retained by the Client to undertake the detailed design on their behalf.

Kitto started on site on the 10th August 2015 and the scheme was completed on 28th September 2016.
